The emergency release device of LNG unloading arm at terminals is a critical component to ensure operational safety. During emergency release operations, the unloading arm may experience potential structural damage caused by sudden impacts. In this study, the dynamic response of the LNG unloading arm during emergency release operation was investigated using multibody dynamics methods based on ADAMS simulation software. By the Lagrangian method, a dynamical model of the emergency release system was established. The end trajectory and sweep area of the unloading arm during the emergency release process were analyzed. Key factors affecting the stability and motion range of the unloading arm were further explored. Simulation results show that while the arm undergoes impacts during emergency release and soft vibration/sloshing may induce interference with other devices, it can transition from an oscillatory state to a stable state within a few seconds, demonstrating good dynamic stability. The corresponding treatment procedures should be planned to ensure the personal and device safety.
